Participant Eligibility
To ensure the safety, effectiveness, and integrity of the program, Better U Foundation Academy has established the following eligibility criteria:
- Participants may be court-ordered through the Department of Juvenile Justice.
- Must be a first-time juvenile offender (this is not a “scared straight” program).
- Only nonviolent felony offenses will be considered.
- Participants must not be substance dependent (no ongoing substance abuse or addiction).
- Must have no serious mental illness or complex medical conditions that require intensive care (e.g., uncontrolled seizures, severe asthma, or coronary complications).
- Individuals with mild to moderate cognitive or developmental challenges may be considered, provided they can safely participate in program activities.
- Must be 16 years of age or younger and no more than a junior in high school at the time of admission.
- Parental or sponsor involvement is mandatory and required throughout the program.
- Must obtain medical clearance prior to acceptance.
